What's in the Box

  • Blancett 1100 flow meter
  • NIST traceable calibration certificate

Description

The Blancett 1100 turbine flow meter is designed to withstand the demands of the most rigorous flow measurement applications. It features a rugged 316 stainless steel housing and rotor support assemblies, CD4MCU stainless steel rotor, and abrasive-resistant tungsten carbide rotor shaft and journal bearings.

The Model 1100 maintains measurement accuracy and mechanical integrity in the corrosive and abrasive fluids commonly found in oil field water flood projects and many industrial applications. It is designed to operate with the model B2800 Flow Monitor and meets a wide range of measurement requirements, making it ideal for applications such as pipelines, production/injection fields, in-situ mining operations, offshore facilities, and other industrial applications.

This meter is simple to install and service. It operates in any orientation (horizontal to vertical) as long as the flow direction arrow is aligned in the same direction as the actual line flow. For optimum performance, the flow meter should be installed with a minimum of 10 diameters upstream straight pipe length and 5 diameters downstream straight pipe length.

Applications

This product can be used in the following applications:

Here's how some of our customers use this product...

Fuel Flow in Hazardous Areas

The Background: An aviation company needs a simple, safe, and accurate way to meter oil and aviation fuel.

The Problem: Fuels have a low viscosity which can present problems for certain types of flow meters. Additionally, when metering fuels it is important for the flow meter and display to have a hazardous area certification to mitigate the risk of a stray spark igniting the fuel.

The Solution: The Blancett 1100 is a turbine meter which can be calibrated to accurately read most any low viscosity fluid including fuels and oils. The 1100 can also be ordered with an explosion-proof rating allowing it be used on fuel lines in hazardous areas. When the 1100 is combined with an intrinsically safe magnetic pickup or conduit (in compliance with local electrical codes) the frequency signal can be sent to a data logger or display.

Metering De-icing Fluids at Remote Northern Airfields

The Background: The customer is a small regional airline that also provides services to private aircraft at remote airfields in Northern Canada. They seek flow meters so that they can accurately charge customers for de-ice/anti-ice fluids.

The Problem: The extreme conditions at these remote airfields requires rugged and robust flow meters able to handle the conditions while providing the accuracy required for commercial use.

The Solution: The customer purchased four Blancett 1100 turbine flow meters paired with Blancett B2800 flow monitors. They found this combination of features and value to be the best available in the market and ideal for their application.

Monitoring a Hot Oil Flow Loop

The Background: Our customer manufactures packaging including plastic bottles. The process of making these bottles utilizes a hot oil loop to keep the temperature of the plastic at the correct level before the extrusion process begins.

The Problem: The food grade oil they use gradually degrades when in contact with air which can occur if bad seals, cracks, or error allows air to enter the loop. The degraded oil gums up the pipes which adversely affects the hot oil flow causing the plastic to enter the extrusion process at the incorrect temperature which can damage the machine and result in poor-quality bottles.

The Solution: We recommended the customer install the Blancett 1100 turbine meter which will indicate if the flow inside the hot oil loop is correct or has changed. The 1100 is compatible with temperatures up to 425˚F and, when paired with the Blancett B3000 flow monitor, displays flow rate. The B3000 also includes alarm outputs to indicate when the flow rate has dropped below a minimum threshold.
