The Rosemount 3051SFC Series compact orifice flow meter is designed for closed loop control and general purpose monitoring applications. By integrating the 3051S pressure transmitter with the 405 Compact Orifice primary element, Rosemount has created a high performance, direct mount differential pressure flow meter lowering the installed cost by eliminating the need for fittings, impulse tubing, valves, adapters and manifolds by providing a single device packaged together for simplified installation.
Rosemount 3051SFC Series compact orifice flow meter is ideal for volumetric measurement of relatively clean liquids. Measurements are repeatable and accurate to ±0.80% of volumetric rate. A centering mechanism helps eliminate improper installation which can result in significant errors in readings.

Rosemount 3051S Multivariable Pressure Transmitter
The Rosemount 3051S transmitter enables pressure, temperature, and fully compensated mass and energy flow measurements. It is fully scalable and allows users to customize performance, functionality, diagnostics, and connection systems depending upon the application. The 3051S utilizes advanced software and functionality including a 4-20mA signal based on Hart® Communication or FOUNDATION™ fieldbus, user configured flow units, low flow cut-off, and process alerts for pressure and temperature.
Rosemount 405 Compact Orifice
The 405 Compact Orifice is suitable for liquid, gas and steam applications in ½ to 12" pipes. The 405 is available in two orifice styles: Conditioning and Standard. The 405C Conditioning Compact Orifice is ideal for applications with limited pipe run. Only requiring 2 pipe diameters from an upstream disturbance (double elbows, valves, reducers), the 405C Conditioning Compact Orifice delivers ±0.5% accuracy.

Limited Straight Run
The Background: Our customer is an industrial facility that needs to monitor the flow of cooling water to ensure that critical equipment has an adequate supply.
The Problem: The facility doesn’t have any suitable places to install most flow meters due to very limited straight run. The customer was looking at having to spend ten's of thousands of dollars to re-pipe their system.
The Solution: We recommended a Rosemount 3051SFC compact orifice flow meter which, when configured with the conditioning orifice plate option, can be installed with no straight run. As a bonus, since it is a wafer design, the customer was able to simply separate the flanges on his pipe and install this without any cutting of the pipe.
Measuring the Flow of Liquid Gallium
The Background: The customer is a research facility which needs to monitor the flow of liquid gallium as part of an ongoing project.
The Problem: Liquid gallium has a very high specific gravity, being nearly 6 times as heavy as water. This density causes problems with most flow technologies. Coriolis meters, which are typically used for the most challenging applications, are unable to accurately measure the flow of this fluid since the weight of the gallium hinders the Coriolis Effect upon which flow measurement is based.
The Solution: The Rosemount 3051SFC is a differential pressure flow meter which has temperature and pressure sensors to allow the meter to adjust to the changing density of gallium and other high density liquids.
