Description

The Rosemount 2120 liquid level switch utilizes vibrating short fork technology. With a wide range of options available and performance unaffected by flow, turbulence, bubbles, foam, vibration, or solids content, the Rosemount 2120 liquid level switch is perfect for nearly any fluid application including overfill protection, water ingress detection, limit detection, pump protection, high and low level alarm, hygienic applications, and fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals.

The Rosemount 2120 liquid level switch is available with a complete range of process connections, housing and wetted materials, hazardous area approvals, and fork lengths. Additionally four different switching functions are available. A mode switch allows the Rosemount 2120 liquid level switch to be set to switch from wet to dry (typically low alarm) or from dry to wet (typically high alarm). There is also a user selectable time delay from 0.3, 1, 3, 10, or 30 seconds. Increasing the time delay in turbulent or splashing applications virtually eliminates the risk of false switching.

The Rosemount 2120 liquid level switch withstands temperatures up to 300°F (150°C) and pressures to 1450 psig (100 barg) and is for use in safe areas. Installation is simple and no calibration is required. No moving parts means there is virtually no maintenance.

Applications

Here's how some of our customers use this product...

Maintaining the Level of High Temperature Water for Glassworks

The Background: Our customer is an industrial glassworks that makes bottles for beverages. They require a level switch to maintain the level of water in tanks used to shock the bottles at two different proprietary temperatures as part of the manufacturing process.

The Problem: The application involves simple point level control and a high limit alarm to prevent tank overfill. The hurdles are the very high water temperatures used as part of the process, close to boiling, as well as the absolute need for reliability and accuracy as product quality will be tied directly to the level switch.

The Solution: The Rosemount 2120 liquid level switch is suitable for temperatures up to 300˚F and includes a range of options and modes so the customer can customize it to their application. The 2120 also has no moving parts, increasing the reliability and accuracy the customer demands.
