Capacitance Level Sensors

A capacitance level sensor is a device that measures the level of a liquid or granular material by detecting changes in capacitance caused by variations in the dielectric constant of the material surrounding a sensing probe, essentially acting like a capacitor where the material itself forms one plate, allowing for non-contact level detection; it converts these capacitance changes into an electrical signal representing the level of the substance.

Unlike some other level sensors, it doesn't need to physically touch the material to measure its level. The sensor works by detecting changes in the dielectric constant of the material around the probe, which is influenced by the material's composition and level. Used in various industrial applications to monitor liquid levels in tanks, including corrosive liquids, as well as in powder or granular material level detection.
