Corrosion Thickness Gauges

Corrosion is natural process in which certain metals chemically react with elements in their surrounding environment. This reaction degrades the useful properties of the metal including its strength, appearance and permeability.

Unfortunately, some of the metals most susceptible to corrosion are also those most commonly used in everyday applications including construction, infrastructure projects, automobiles, machinery, and countless other uses. When the metal used in these applications corrodes beyond a certain point, it can lead to catastrophic failure.

Corrosion thickness gauges use ultrasonic technology to accurately determine the thickness of materials and can detect signs of weakness or damage. By monitoring thickness over time, the effects of corrosion can be noted and mitigated before it reaches a critical point. Thickness gauges can even detect the effects of corrosion inside pipes and tanks where it would not be detectable by visual inspection alone.
