The Telaire Humitrac XR Dew Point Transmitter is a rugged, compact transmitter designed to serve the building automation/HVAC market, as well as a wide variety of general purpose process applications. Suited for monitoring dew point, wet bulb, enthalpy or temperature, the HumiTrac XR provides key information to help facility managers make better decisions regarding indoor air quality and efficiency of the HVAC system. A few adjustments based on this information can lead to potential energy and cost savings.
The HumiTrac XR utilizes a capacitive sensor that provides full-scale 0 to 99% RH measurement while maintaining high accuracy and unsurpassed response times, linearity and stability. The sensor module is field replaceable, virtually eliminating the need for time consuming and costly factory calibration, while reducing downtime during service intervals to near zero.
The HumiTrac XR is designed to be highly configurable in the field. All versions feature field-selectable outputs (0 to 5V, 0 to 10V, 4 to 20mA). Simple adjustment of slide switches is all that is required. The HumiTrac XR is offered in wall mount, duct mount and outdoor air configurations. Signal-conditioned temperature versions are available scaled from -20°F to 120°F (-28.8°C to 49°C) for duct mount and outside air configurations, or 40°F to 90°F (4.4 to 32.2°C) for space mount configuration. All HumiTrac XR configurations feature rugged flame retardant, UL-94V ABS plastic. Duct and outdoor air versions provide excellent weather resistance (IP42 rated). The HumiTrac XR also includes large removable, pluggable terminal blocks which eliminates the need to wire in a confined space and allows the unit to be pre-wired separate from the electronics which greatly simplifies installation.
This product can be used in the following applications:
The Background: Our customer is a large industrial plant that uses a cooling tower to remove waste heat generated within the facility. They seek a means to measuring the wetbulb temperature within the tower which allows them to calculate how much heat the cooling tower can remove.
The Problem: Cooling towers are used extensively used in large industrial plants and HVAC systems. They work on the principle of evaporative cooling where excess heat is used to warm a stream of water. That water comes into contact with air inside the tower causing the water to evaporate creating cooling. The colder water gets pumped back into the system to absorb more waste heat. Because the system works on the process of evaporation, measuring wet bulb and dry bulb temperatures to test the capacity and efficiency of the system is much more prevalent than measuring RH or dewpoint.
The Solution: We recommended the Telaire Humitrac XR Dew Point Transmitter, a rugged, compact transmitter which provided the best performance and price for this application. The Humitrac XR is capable of monitoring dew point, wet bulb, enthalpy or temperature providing key information to help technicians make better decisions which can lead to potential energy and cost savings.
