The Watlow Finbar heater combines a one inch single-ended Watlow FIREBAR® flat tubular heating element
press-fitted together with aluminized steel fins. The steel fins effectively increase surface area to approximately
16 square inches for every linear inch of element length drastically improving heat transfer to the air. Improved
heat transfer allows the Watlow Finbar heater to put more heating power in tighter spaces - like forced air ducts,
dryers, ovens, and load bank resistors.
The unique design and geometry of the Watlow FIREBAR® heating element allows it to heat media from ambient
temperatures faster than tubular elements, while using the same wattage and lower sheath temperatures. The
rugged fins of the Watlow Finbar heater further improves upon these virtues. Installation of the Watlow Finbar heater
is simplified by terminations exiting at one end and mounting accommodations on both ends.
By using Watlow's FIREBAR® heating elements, the Watlow Finbar heater can generate watt densities up to 50
W/in2 and sheath temperatures up to 1200°F (fin temperatures up to 1100°F). A number of
material and other options exist to make Watlow Finbar heaters suitable for nearly any application.
Watlow Finbar heaters are available in lengths from 10 to 48" (other sizes available by special order) and feature a
number of termination and mounting options. Lavacone seals protect the Watlow Finbar heater from moisture damage.
Applications for the Watlow Finbar Heater
