The Watlow THINBAND® heater is Watlow's patented redesign of the mica band. Watlow THINBAND® heaters deliver high performance and install easily, keeping costs down and reducing costly equipment downtime. The Watlow THINBAND® heater features a flexible, one-piece design which makes installation easier on plastic processing equipment since it can open to the full diameter of the barrel without internal damage to the heater.

Another feature of the Watlow THINBAND® heater is its Quick Clamp latching device that makes installation quick and easy and doesn't require tools. Simply open the Watlow THINBAND® heater to the full diameter of the barrel, place in position, and latch the Quick Clamp. Other barrel heaters do not even need to be removed this process, making the Watlow THINBAND® heater one of the easiest heaters to use for replacement.

Watlow THINBAND® heaters can reach temperatures up to 480°C (900°F) while generating watt densities to 55 W/in2 (8.5 W/cm2). The Watlow THINBAND® heater is powerful and versatile enough for nearly any application where a band heater is required.

Watlow's new Universal Stock Program for Watlow THINBAND® heaters allows quicker delivery for a wide range of diameters, including metric-sized barrels. Watlow THINBAND® heaters come in diameters from three to nine inches in 1/4-inch increments and widths in 1-1/2 inches, two inches, and three inches. These sizes can be combined to create two-piece band heaters to fit any diameter between three and 18 inches. Both 240 and 480 volt combinations are available. This versatility should satisfy almost any requirement whether in millimeter or inch size barrels.
