Description

The APG PT-500 pressure transducer is a rugged submersible pressure transmitter designed for tank liquid level measurement, water and wastewater applications, and well depth measurement. The versatility and reliability of the PT-500 make it a great multi-purpose level sensor. It exceeds at water- and hydrocarbon-based liquids where the density of the liquid is consistent.

The PT-500 has a range of up to 250 psi (or 575 ftH2O) with an accuracy of ±0.250% of span (BFSL). The zero point can be easily reset in the field so if the unit drifts a bit it can be quickly brought back within spec, meaning you won't need to have the transducer recalibrated as often. Each transducer also includes built-in lightning protection as a standard feature protecting the units and saving users from needing an expensive industrial surge protector.

The PT-500 is built to handle tough applications including hazardous locations. Its intrinsically safe design, which is certified CSA Class 1, Division 1/Zone 0, means it's suitable for even the most explosive environments. For especially tough environments cages are available to protect the transducer.

The PT-500 has low-power consumption making it ideal for remote monitoring applications, especially those that rely on solar or battery power. The Modbus version is compatible with APG's online remote monitoring software, Tank Cloud. Level readings can be viewed online free on the Tank Cloud portal. Low-cost data logging and alarms can also be added. Tank Cloud means you can keep an eye on your remote tanks and wells from your office or your smartphone.

Applications

This product can be used in the following applications:

Here's how some of our customers use this product...

Measuring Liquid Urea Levels

The Background: Our customer is a power company that uses liquid urea to control NOx emissions. They seek a reliable and accurate means of measuring the liquid level of urea in storage tanks.

The Problem: In its granular form urea is a very common fertilizer. In its liquid form, urea can be used for NOx abatement in power plants and other applications where fossil fuels are burned. In this application, the level transmitter must be rated for Class 1 Div 1 and be able to withstand harsh chemicals. The customer also needs a remote display to read in gallons.

The Solution: We recommended the APG PT-500 with hytrel cable and an MND display. The PT-500 is a rugged submersible pressure transmitter designed for tank liquid level measurement and includes built-in lightning protection and a field-adjustable zero feature. The PT-500 is built to handle tough applications - including hazardous locations. It's intrinsically safe design, which is certified CSA Class 1, Division 1/Zone 0. This is not only the ideal solutions to this application but also the most economical one.
