The RKI Instruments GX-2012 gas detector monitors LEL and % volume methane, oxygen, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen sulfide. It can detect CH4 leaks down to 100ppm. With the addition of a thermal conductivity sensor it can function as a line purge tester, automatically ranging from % LEL to % volume, and 0 to 100% volume in methane ranges. The GX-2012 can draw a sample both on demand or during fixed time sampling periods, displaying the peak reading after sampling.

Extensive alarm functions include 3 LED indicators on the top and sides of the detector as well as 95db audible and vibrating indicators. Alarms can be set to latching or non-latching. An internal microprocessor is used to continuously check sensor connections, low battery, circuit trouble, low flow, and calibration errors. The GX-2012 can operate on either a Li-Ion or 3 AA alkaline battery pack, which are interchangeable, easy to replace, and fully charge in 90 minutes.
