Applications

Here's how some of our customers use this product...

Monitoring the Internal Temperature of Beehives

The Background: Our customer runs an apiary and seeks a reliable means of monitoring the temperature inside beehives.

The Problem: The internal temperature inside the hive is critically important to the overall health and development of bees. Ideally, a temperature of between 32 and 35°C is maintained year-round. Bees are able to generate heat within the hive but even small deviations can have a profound affect. This is especially true with low winter temperatures.

The Solution: We recommended HOBO MX2200 Series data loggers which feature Bluetooth Low Energy to deliver accurate temperature measurements straight to mobile devices eliminating the need to disturb the hive to retrieve data. Designed for durability, this compact waterproof logger can easily survive inside the hive.

Temperature Tracking of Baby Chicks

The Background: Our customer is a farm supply store that sells baby chicks and wants the ability to monitor and log the temperatures of the area in which the chicks are placed.

The Problem: The customer would like a solution that is not easily damaged or affected by the baby chicks. They also want the ability to transmit data wirelessly as the logger may get buried under bedding material and could be hard to find on a daily basis.

The Solution: We recommended the HOBO MX2200 data logger because it’s waterproof and transmits data to a mobile device via Bluetooth. The MX2200 also has a replaceable battery (which they stock in the store) so it can be used for many years to come.
