Application Notes
Here's how some of our customers used this product.
Modified Atmosphere Packaging
The Background: Our customer manufactures food packaging equipment and is looking for an accurate pressure sensor to dispense gas blends used to promote freshness into the food’s packaging
The Problem: The freshness of packaged foods depends greatly on how they are packaged, especially the quality of the carefully controlled environment within the packaging. In order to create optimal environmental conditions a custom blend of oxygen, nitrogen, and carbon dioxide is used. Each food type has its own optimal gas blend for packaging. The dispensing of the gas blend into each package is done by volumetric control with pressure sensors used to ensure each package receives enough of the gas blend to create positive pressure within the bag to eliminate seepage.
The Solution: We recommended the AST4710 pressure sensor which provides the accuracy needed along with the perfect form-factor for this application.
