The Megger 280282 thickness gauge is designed for measuring the dry-film thickness of any nonmagnetic material. Applications include manufacturing processes in the automotive, jewelry, and alloy casting industries as well as paint and plating jobs.

To take a measurement place the exploring head, which contains a lightweight magnet, on the surface. As the body of the gauge is drawn away the internal spring extends. The degree of the extension is indicated on the scale as thickness; it is proportional to the force that is required to detach the magnet from the surface.
