The Vaisala CARBCAP hand-held carbon dioxide meter GM70 is a user-friendly meter for demanding spot measurements in laboratories, greenhouses and mushroom farms. The meter can also be used in HVAC and industrial applications, and as a tool for checking fixed CO2 instruments.
The Vaisala GM70 has a short warm-up time and is ready for use almost immediately. It has a menu-based interface, a graphical LCD display and data logging capability. The optional MI70 Link Windows® software in combination with a USB connection cable provides an easy way to handle data in a PC environment.
The Vaisala GM70 incorporates the advanced Vaisala CARBOCAP sensor that has unique reference measurement capabilities. The measurement accuracy is not affected by dust, water vapor or most chemicals.
The Vaisala GM70 features two sampling methods. The handle is for hand-held diffusion sampling. The GM70 pump enables pump-aspirated sampling from locations difficult to access otherwise. It is also ideal for comparisons with fixed CO2 transmitters.
The Vaisala GM70 uses the same probes as the Vaisala GMT220 carbon dioxide transmitter series. By plugging different probes into the handle or pump, the user can easily change the measurement range of the GM70. The meter can also be used as a calibration check instrument. The GM70 has two probe inputs. Vaisala's relative humidity and dewpoint probes can also be used simultaneously with CO2 measurement.

Laboratory Monitoring of CO2 in an Incubator
The Background: A hospital is looking for a way to measure the CO2 content in a CO2 incubator used in their Microbiology and Cytogenetic lab.
The Problem: Though this is a straightforward application, the customer requires a solution that is both accurate enough for laboratory applications and easy to use for people not entirely familiar with this type of equipment.

Monitoring High Levels of CO2 in Incubators
The Background: A biotechnology startup requires an accurate and portable instrument for measuring and recording humidity and high levels of carbon dioxide in an incubator.
The Problem: One of the challenges in measuring CO2 accurately is the effect of changing temperature and pressure. Another challenge in measuring CO2 in incubators is condensation as the humid air is drawn out into the room environment.
The Solution: We suggested a Vaisala GM70 CO2 monitor with an HMP75 humidity probe. The CARBOCAP sensor used in GM70 is very robust and provides higher reliability compared to mechanical designs. The GM70 also allows data logging of up to 2700 points which can be transferred to a PC for further analysis. The temperature and pressure of the environment at the measurement point can be easily set in the GM70 user menu and the unit will display the corrected measurement. Vaisala 212807GM Naflon tubing is used to avoid condensation problems.
