Shipping to Canada

Using your own shipping account:

If you have an account with UPS, FedEx or other package delivery company that handles cross-border shipments, we recommend that you choose shipment on your account. This is typically the most dependable and cost-effective way to have your order delivered.

Shipping via United States Postal Service (USPS):

For Canadian customers who don't have an account with a package delivery company, we recommend shipment via the U.S. Postal Service – delivered in Canada by Canada Post. Why? Low shipping charges and no brokerage fees! Canada Post just charges a small handling fee ($5 or $8 CAD) upon delivery. We can ship via other couriers upon request. The U.S. Postal Service offers several shipping options, from First-Class International Mail for small, low-value packages to Express Mail for urgent deliveries. We insure all packages in your name.

USPS Shipping Options:
  • First Class Mail International: 2-4 weeks, $200 USD max. value, 4 lbs max. weight
  • Priority Mail International: 6-10 business days, $675 USD max. value, 66 lbs max. weight
  • Express Mail International: 3-5 business days, $5,000 USD max. value, 66 lbs max. weight
Duty:

Most of our products ship duty-free to Canada. If we determine that your order may be charged duty when it enters Canada, we will contact you and you will have the option to cancel your order before it ships. If we don't tell you about a duty charge, and you are charged for duty upon delivery of your order, we will reimburse you for the duty amount. So, don't worry about duty!

Canadian Taxes:

A 5% GST charge is applied to all orders upon entry to Canada and will be collected by Canada Post upon delivery. Non-commercial customers will also be charged their appropriate provincial tax.

Handling Fee:

Canada Post charges a $5.00 CAD handling fee on all First-Class International shipments valued $20 CAD or more. The charge is $8 CAD for Priority and Express options. This fee, along with any Canadian duty and taxes owed, is collected upon delivery of your order.

Summary:
  • Upon shipment: Instrumart will charge you the product price + shipping price.
  • Upon delivery: Canada Post will charge you duty (rarely) + applicable Canadian taxes + $5/$8 handling fee.
